but there are instances when things can go wrong.

In this instance you need a competent implant dentist who can solve the problems either themselves or can refer you to someone who can.

So you need to find a competent Implant Dentist.

#5 How Do You Find A Competent Implant Dentist?

If you are thinking about getting dental implants, whether it be to replace a missing tooth, replace dentures or even for smile design, it is important to first do your research.

By law any dentist can fit dental implants, there is no formal qualification and there isn’t an implant specialist either.

When looking for an implant dentist you need to know:

  • How long the dentist has been placing Dental Implants
  • Have they had good training (not a weekend course)
  • How Many Implants Have they Placed Successfully (Remember, the quantity does not matter, it is all about quality of care. Why do I say this? Well because a dentist can fit 15-20 dental implants in one patient, but that does not mean that the implants placed are successful.)

Of course there are failures with any sort of treatment, nearly every good implant dentist will have had some failures, but the important thing is have they dealt with those failures correctly.
